Will this panel fit the smaller parabolic reflector in the line?

It will not. This panel is cut for the Parabolic 158, and the smaller parabolic has its own D1 and D2 diffusers. A front diffuser has to match the rim it stretches across, so a panel sized for the larger reflector will not tension correctly on a smaller one, and a smaller panel will not reach. Check which parabolic you own before ordering. The optical intent is the same in both sizes: soften the output while keeping the directional control the reflector was chosen for.

Why choose this panel over the version made for the smaller reflector?

Because the panel has to match the reflector you already own, so start there rather than with the diffuser. The Parabolic 158 is the larger of the two, and a bigger source at the same distance wraps a subject more fully and gives a gentler shadow edge, which suits full-length fashion and group work. The smaller reflector is the tighter option for headshots and confined sets. Both take a single-layer front diffuser that softens output while keeping directional control, so pick the reflector for the job and then the panel that fits it.

What does this add on a fashion set beyond the bare reflector?

It takes the specular edge off without giving up direction. A bare parabolic renders skin with hard highlights and a crisp shadow line; this single-layer front diffuser spreads the output across the face of the reflector so highlights sit down and the shadow transition softens, while the beam still travels where you aim it. That combination is what fashion and commercial portrait work asks for: flattering skin with enough shape to hold a garment's texture and a jawline. One layer keeps the light lively rather than flat.
